The Gourmets Fair began with the philosophy of being a meeting point for delicatessen manufacturers and consumers. It is currently the reference event in Europe’s quality gastronomy industry.

We have participated in this Fair for the first time. There, the round tables, conferences, competitions, exhibitions and other parallel activities reflect the vanguard spirit which has always distinguished Grupo Gourmets.

Last 4th April NOS RIQUEZA was in this Fair and presented its wines at the Dutch market.

This Fair, organised by the Spanish Foreign Trade Agency Office at the Spanish Embassy in The Hague, in collaboration with ICEX/Wines from Spain, took place in Rotterdam’s old tea, coffee and tobacco factory, Van Nelle Design Factory.

The event, inaugurated by Spanish Ambassador Javier Vallaure de Acha, showcased wines from 60 exhibitors, including bodegas and importers. Besides, a total of 350 Dutch wine professionals came to such Fair.

This was the first time the Rotterdam Van Nelle Design Factory building has hosted an event of this kind; boasting an original design which featured bottles of wine hanging from the ceiling on wires. In addition to the wine showcase, Matching Expectation offered a master-class led by Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW, in collaboration with chef Niven Kunz. The Spanish Master of Wine also led two seminars focused on Spanish wines made from grape varieties other than Tempranillo. In addition, Dutch Spanish wine expert, Rudolf Nipius, led another seminar on the quality of Spanish white wines.

At the NOS RIQUEZA stand everyone could taste all its wines: the new vintages of NOS RIQUEZA White and Rosé and its new wine NOS RIQUEZA AUDENTIS as well.

This biennial fair, in its second edition has already become a reference in the North of Spain, and an increase of its international character is foreseen for this year.

Every year the German magazine Selection organizes the International top-of-the-line Wine Competition “Premium Select Wine Challenge”. This prestigious competition is well-known not only in Germany but also in the rest of the EU. Wines from all over the world and from many different viticultural regions compete together and are tasted by a professional jury in a blind taste.

The results of the tasting and the best wines are published in the spring edition of Selection Magazine, at the same time as Prowein Fair takes place in Düsseldorf. Besides, the results will be published in its web site : www.selection-online.com.

NOS RIQUEZA AUDENTIS wine and NOS RIQUEZA SELECTED GRAPES wine have been rated with *** Stars and the rest of NOS RIQUEZA wines have received punctuations of more than 80 points.

The Internacional Wine&Spirits Contest CINVE 2010, took place in Seville the past 9^th, 10^thand 11^th of November. This competition was celebrated in 2006 for the first time, and every year its international recognition becomes bigger. Nowadays it may be considered as a referent in this type of events.The high qualification of the jury is one of the reasons of its success. The jury is formed by wine tasters with long experience such as oenologists, sommeliers, specialized journalists members of the FIJEV (International Federation of Journalist and wine writers)...It is also very significant its twinning with the well-known Asian Wine Competition called “Wine Style Asia Award 2010”, which will be an excellent platform for spreading the wines awarded in Singapore. NOS RIQUEZA VERDEJO 2009 has obtained a Gold Medal in the aforementioned competition. Gold medals correspond to marks between 90 and 100 points. This way the NOS RIQUEZA VERDEJO wine 2009 gets its 4^th award along this year in an International Competition. Its previous awards are the following:Bacchus 2010, Silver MedalHonourable Mention in the Competition “The Most Outstanding Spanish Wines for the Netherlands”Silver Medal in “II Challenge to the Best Spanish Wines for Asia”.

The past 16, 17 and 18 of October, after the success of the previous and first edition, it was held the 2nd Edition of the Competition “Best Spanish wines for Asia”. The aim of this Competition is to test the Spanish wines according to the current likes in the local market, and also it makes an important promotion labour and rapprochement of the Spanish wines to the Asiatic importers. The different tasters, all of them from Asia, allow us to discover what are the real likes of these consumers. The tasting is a blind one. It gives impartiality to the results. Besides, the 18th there was a tasting and pairing dinner with the typical dishes of the Asian food. NOS RIQUEZA wine, 2009, 100% Verdejo, ageing for two months on its natural lees was tasted in this Competition, and between more than 370 different wines got a Silver Medal. BEST SPANISH WINES FOR ASIA

NOS RIQUEZA white Verdejo has obtained a honourable mention in the Competition “The most outstanding Spanish wines for the Netherlands”. This competition was organized by ICEX/ Wines from Spain in cooperation with Perswijn magazine for second year in a row.

The jury of this competition, made up of sommelliers, wine writers and retailers, has tasted more than 1100 wines and only 104 were awarded. NOS RIQUEZA Verdejo 2009 got a honourable mention in the category of wines without presence in the Netherlands yet. The result of the Competition was published in the edition of June of Perswijn magazine. In September there will be a supplement wholly dedicated to the Competition. Broad information of the wines, the jury and the tasting will be published.

The "Principado de Asturias Promotional Society” (ASTUREX) together with the supermarket chain CORA has organized a Promotional Week of Spanish Products in Hungary. The aim is to get people to know the Spanish food products in that country. Apart from NOS RIQUEZA, another 7 Asturian companies in the food sector are participating. The French chain of supermarkets started its expansion in Hungary in 1997 and now has 7 supermarkets, 3 of them in Budapest. It has a wide array of gourmet products and offers great variety of brands and products. The whole NOS RIQUEZA catalogue is available in that country thanks to this initiative.

SUPERMARKET CORA

Last Saturday 3rd of July, in the Zen Balagares Hotel in Corvera, two wine tasting courses took place. They were organized by Bodegas Nos Riqueza and were given by Carlos Capilla, technical director of the Arribes Designation of Origin Control Board.

Those present at the course learnt wine tasting techniques in each of different stages:
viewing, admiring its colour, shine…
smelling, finding out the endless nuances of its aroma, from the typical smells of the oak, fruits, species…
tasting, enjoying all the tastes.

WINE TASTING COURSE

On Saturday 3rd of June Carlos Capilla, technical director of the Arribes Designation of Origin Control Board, will be running a wine tasting course in Avilés organized by Bodegas NOS RIQUEZA,

You can also enter a raffle for two free courses by filling in a participation form. Those forms are available and will be given iout in some bars and restaurants when drinking a glass of any of the NOS RIQUEZA or NOEGA wines.
The date for the raffle is the 30th of June.

The last weekend in May the XIX Cheese and Wine Fair took place in Avilés at the Magdalena Pavilion, where thousands of people enjoyed the different types of cheese and wines exposed there. A total of 64 participants offered their cheese and wines at this Fair.

All NOS RIQUEZA wines were in the “El Pañol”stand and could also be tasted all the weekend in its wine bar in Sabugo.

Organized by Iberwine and in collaboration with the Hospitality Association of Valladolid, 57 bars and restaurants in Valladolid participated in this Competition “A Wine for a Tapa”.This competition offered their customers the opportunity to taste 119 different wines from different Designations of Origin as well as making a perfect pairing with the “tapa” chosen.
“La Taberna El Escudo” offered the NOS RIQUEZA white wine with a “tapa” of cod in oyster and king prawn sauce.

Trotamundos Interview

This year it was the first time that the wines awarded with a Bacchus medal could be tasted all together in the London International Wine Fair (LIWF). It took place in London from the 18th to the 20th of May 2010. This initiative carried out by the Spanish Wine Tasters Union (UEC) consisted of a “self-service” stand where all the awarded wines in the aforementioned international competition could be tasted. There were also leaflets containing information about the participant wine cellars given at this stand.

LONDON INTERNATIONAL WINE FAIR

Last 17 of May and for the 3 year in a row, the Spanish Wines Day was celebrated in the Husa President Park Hotel in the city of Brussels. There, 40 Spanish wine cellars presented their wines to importers, distributors and other Belgian professionals.

This exhibition, organised by the Spanish Institute of International Trade (ICEX) by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Belgium, rely on the attendance of Belgian impor companies, distributors, buyers, journalists, retailers, members of wines clubs, etc…

NOS RIQUEZA took part successfully in this event letting the guest taste its wide range of wines from different Designation of Origin.

SPANISH WINE DAY BRUSSELS

On Thursday 29th April a wine tasting&pairing dinner took place in “Abadengo Restaurant”, in Burgos.There, a wide range of BODEGAS NOS RIQUEZA wines were sampled. Beatriz Paniagua, oenologist who makes some of these wines, and Carlos Capilla, the technical director of the Arribes Control Board, were some of the guests. A presentation and expert explanations of the wines were also given. The pairing was the following: Starters: “Mini Tostas Variadas” (variety of mini toasts) and “Ensalada de Ahumados” (smoked salmon salad) with NOS RIQUEZA ROSÉ.

Main Course: "Crujiente de Bacalao a las Finas Hierbas” (codfish with fine herbs) with NOS RIQUEZA WHITE

Second Course: "Carrillera de Cerdo Ibérico con Verdura Escabechada” (Iberian Pork with pickled vegetables) with NOS RIQUEZA 9 months in barrel and NOEGA

Dessert: "Struggle de manzana" (Apple struggle)

PAIRING DINNER

Free tasting of NOS RIQUEZA wine, Rueda. D.O., Verdejo 100%, ageing on lees, awarded with a Silver Bacchus 2010. This free tasting took place on Sunday, 18th April 2010 in Abadengo Restaurant, located in Las Huelgas (Alfonso VIII street, 39, Burgos) between 13.00 and 15.00

The white wine NOS RIQUEZA 100% Verdejo, Rueda D.O., has been awarded with a Silver Bacchus in the IX edition of the Bacchus International Wines Competition 2010.

The competition, which has been organized since 1996 by the Spanish Wine Tasters Union, also has the recognition of relevant wine international organizations such as the International Organization of Vine and Wine, the International Association of Oenologyst or the World-wide Federation of International Great Wine Competitions. This competition has 80 wine tasters of different nationalities who try wines from the main wine producing countries.
