The Designation of Origin Tierra de León is located mainly in the areas of Valdevimbre, Los Oteros and Ribera del Cea (southeast León and a few municipalities to the north of Valladolid).
Using the Prieto Picudo grape (the principal varietal in the area), the rosé wines made here are intense, rich and aromatic, and slightly carbonic.

The intracellular fermentation produced within each berry gives the wine more colour and structure, as well as streams of very fine carbonic bubbles (aguja, semi-sparkling wine).
